Dry Eye Treatment Study - LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation

Dry Eye Treatment Study - LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation

The LipiFlow Thermal Pulsation System (www.tearscience.com) is a most remarkable service to help people suffering from dry, offering a significant technological shift in evaporative dry eye treatment by effectively relieving blockage of the eyelid glands during an in-office treatment. Opening the blocked eyelid glands allows the body to resume the natural production of lipids (oils) needed for the tear film. 70% of what causes Evaporative Dry Eye disease (also known as meibomian gland dysfunction) is evaporative or lipid deficient dry eye. Common dry eye symptoms include:

  • dryness tearing
  • discomfort and irritation sensitivity to light
  • grittiness discharge
  • feeling of foreign body in eye tiredness
  • burning or stinging sensation itching
  • vision disturbance redness

To find out whether you can benefit from the LipiFlow treatment, and participate in our research study, please complete our Dry Eye Symptom Questionnaire and click to send.

Visiogen Intraocular Lens Implant

We are conducting a clinical research study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a new investigational intraocular lens.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

Visiogen Intraocular Lens Implant

Fourth Generation CrystaLens® Implant

The CrystaLens® implant, which was first FDA approved in 2003, continues today to grow in popularity even over more recently released multifocal lens implant technologies. This increase in popularity is partly because, unlike other multifocal implants, the CrystaLens® has undergone continuous redesign and improvement since its approval.

Each redesign of the CrystaLens® has resulted in better depth of focus and quality of vision for patients. Harvard Eye Associates is one of four centers in the US undertaking a trial seeking FDA approval of the newest, fourth generation CrystaLens®, called the HD-100.

This lens is not new; it has been in regular use in the Dominican Republic, where American-trained surgeons have performed hundreds of implants. Studies on these patients have shown the fourth generation lens to provide even greater focus for near vision than the third generation lens in current use in the US.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • are at least 50 years of age
  • have a cataract in need of surgery
  • do not have any serious eye diseases
  • are not taking medicines for diabetes
  • have not had previous surgery in that eye
