Dr. Kim has been a practicing ophthalmic surgeon at Harvard Eye Associates since 1980, and has performed corrective surgery for refractive (focusing) errors since 1982. His special interest in refractive care led to early investigation and training in a wide variety of specialized surgical and laser techniques, and he remains involved in the development of new procedures applying laser technology to ophthalmic conditions.
Dr. Kim routinely treats physicians, optometrists and their families, who have all trusted him with their surgical and medical eye needs.
He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco and his public health degree from the University of California, Berkeley. His residency in Ophthalmology was at Harvard’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he also completed a Fellowship in Retina, and was appointed clinical instructor. He has served as an associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology, University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Kim is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Medical Association, International Society of Refractive Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
He is board certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
He has served as Chief of Staff at South Coast Medical Center and has directed cataract teaching courses in Denver, Boston and Dallas. Dr. Kim's accomplishments and background have earned him recognition in the prestigious “Who’s Who” in America.

Dr. Kim has served as director and faculty speaker for several national surgical skills courses for ophthalmologists - Boston, Denver and Dallas. He has been an invited lecturer for international ophthalmic meetings and local optometric society meetings. In addition, he is a frequent lecturer to community service organizations such as Rotary, Lions, and Kiwanis Clubs. He donates time regularly to teach medical students and ophthalmology residents at University of California in Irvine. He has organized and participated in numerous eye missions internationally, including Haiti, Mexico and Tonga.

He and his wife, Carol, have two grown children, Brian and Ashley.
